Navionics will clearly state that the HD stuff is for tablet size screens and they intend the standard app to be for phones. Just FYI for anyone reading, Richard is right about the HD part. So I guess I will stick with the original version as long as they keep updating it with new charts. I've read on their website about this new app and some of the "new features" but honestly it doesn't sound a whole heckuva lot different from what I already own. So separating the app from the chart data makes perfect economic sense. Apparently it was getting expensive in some of the European regions to deliver a full chart for the entire region when a lot of users only wanted 1-2 countries. Thanks Richard - I got an email a couple of weeks ago announcing the new Navionics Boating and figured out that they've separated the app from the charts and made the app free.
